1. Do not abuse other members on GNR Truth.
There will be no discrimination of any kind, including the use of racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, ableist or otherwise discriminatory language. Posts intended to offend other members will be removed and are subject to a warning or permanent suspension. Arguments and disagreements are expected and inevitable. However, please don't resort to name-calling, direct or indirect, or labeling or stereotyping members. Do not degrade, demean, or belittle other members in any way. Harassment, slander, and defamation of character are prohibited. If you have a problem with someone's opinion, argue against the opinion, not the person. Insults exchanged between friends in jest, or otherwise with consent, are exempt from this rule except when discriminatory language is used. Any member who continually disrupts the forum may be banned at the discretion of the admins and moderators.
2. Be respectful of current and former members of GNR and of GNR management.
Open discussion and constructive criticism about GNR and its current and former members is allowed and encouraged. However, discussions must be respectful and must not disparage current or former members of GNR. The purpose of this forum is to facilitate community among fans of GNR. We all see hater comments in social media and in comments to articles. We don’t need them here. Bashing, disrespecting, insulting, using triggering terminology or continuous and repeated negativity to discuss current or former members of GNR or Team Brazil is considered trolling, which is not allowed and is subject to warnings and infractions.
3. Do not publicly question moderator decisions.
Respect requests made by moderators in threads. If your thread has been locked, please do not create a new one asking why it has been locked. Instead, if you have a problem or concern regarding a moderator or question a decision made or guidance given for future posts, send a message to that moderator to discuss the issue (remain civil as will the moderator). If you choose to air your concern in the public forums, you may be subject to a warning, infraction, or permanent suspension.
Further posting in violation of instructions from a moderator also may lead to an infraction. Similarly, if you receive a warning or an infraction and wish to question it, contact a mod rather than complain about it publicly. If the problem cannot be resolved, then the moderator and user must send their positions to the forum admin. An admin will make or change any and/or all final decisions.
4. Keep content legal and legitimate.
GNR Truth takes intellectual property rights and violations of those rights seriously. As GNR fans, we respect the band members’ work as artists, and we have a strict no tolerance policy for posting material that violates their intellectual property rights. Piracy, copyright violations, or any other illegal transactions may not be linked on this board. Posting links to or otherwise making available upcoming ("leaked") releases will result in warnings, infractions, and possibly an immediate temporary ban. When in doubt, please PM a mod or staff member to question whether something is permissible to post.
5. No soliciting.
This site is for fans of GNR, not free advertising. Do not include banners, business descriptions, or clickable ads of any kind unless you are selling or creating something GNR-related and it is in the appropriate thread on the forum.
6. Adult/NSFW material and profanity.
This is GNR, so some profanity is expected. If there is discussion about adult content that is GNR-related and relevant to the topic/discussion, please use “NSFW” in the thread title. We do not want GNR Truth to be disallowed to members at work, so please use discretion when posting. Otherwise we do not limit what may be discussed so long as it does not conflict with any other forum rules or with this site’s Terms of Service ( www.proboards.com/tos ). Please note that ProBoards Terms of Service do not allow pornography of any kind or other objectionable content that is libelous, defamatory, abusive, threatening, excessively violent, harassing – you get the point, and you probably know it when you see it. Don’t post it here.
7. Admins, mods and staff may delete or edit threads and posts that violate these rules.
We reserve the right to remove or close topics and threads that we deem unacceptable. We reserve the right to edit delete any message or thread from the forums for any reason at our discretion without the consent of the author.
8. Do not register another account. Alternate accounts are not allowed.
Do not register more than one account for yourself. The reason for this is to stop users registering secondary accounts to abuse users or to get around a ban or disciplinary action that has been taken or otherwise avoid identification. Accordingly, if we discover a user having multiple accounts, we reserve the right to ban not only the secondary account but all the accounts. If your account is temporarily banned and we find you have tried to register a second account, your ban will further extended or made to be permanent. If you believe that you have an acceptable reason for a second account or have trouble logging in please contact an administrator first. In addition, any member impersonating any current or former GNR band member or other person related to GNR will be permanently banned upon discovery of such information.
9. No discussions about band members’ private lives.
Avoid speculating, discussing or questioning aspects of the band members’ personal lives, such as relationships, children, private photos, etc. The way to determine what is private and what is acceptable is whether a band member has themselves mentioned the item in an interview or social or similar media or if official announcements have been made or articles published regarding the issue. If so, then that information or topic is acceptable to post and discuss. Please use your common sense. If you wouldn’t want a similar topic discussed about you, then it is probably private and shouldn’t be discussed.
10. Do not knowingly post false information about the band.
This site is named GNR Truth for a reason. We want the information shared here to be as factually accurate as possible because people come to this forum to learn about the history and current happenings of GNR. We expect our members to post honestly and sincerely. When posting news, please post the link to the news source. If something you are posting is speculation, say it is speculation or your opinion in your post so that is clear to other members and readers. Do not post false information about the band in order to mislead other users, and do not state your speculation or opinion as fact.
11. Report problematic posts; don’t take matters into your own hands.
If you believe someone is being abusive or the content of a post is unacceptable, use the report feature so a moderator can look into the issue rather than responding to it in the public forum. The moderators review and discuss every report we receive. Retaliating in an equally negative manner will only serve to get you in trouble too. If you do not like what another user is posting but do not think they are breaking the rules, feel free to report it anyway, or to put that user on your ignore list.
12. Be polite to the new GNR Truth members.
We ask that you make the effort to be courteous and welcoming to new members finding their sea legs in this forum. A new member making mistakes or not knowing basic information about GNR is not a reason to abuse them. Instead, inform the individual in a polite and positive manner or alternatively ignore it until a moderator fixes the problem. Abusing new members will not be tolerated, and may result in a warning or infraction.
13. Be respectful of existing GNR Truth members.
There are a lot of long term members of the GNR fan base who are very knowledgeable about the band and its history. We encourage new members to take time to look at other topics and see where your topic should go. If your topic is placed in the wrong forum, it will be moved by a moderator. When starting a thread, please title the thread relative to the topic. We reserve the right to change a topic’s title or to edit any topic, title or post.
14. Err on the side of caution.
If you're not sure if something is okay or not, it is best to ask a moderator first and have another read of the rules. Be mindful who might read your post too. The GNR fan base is composed of people from all backgrounds and something you may intend on being innocuous can easily be misinterpreted if its context isn't made clear. Inside jokes or intended sarcasm does not always translate well to text on a screen, so be wary that not all users will interpret things the way you intended.
15. Contact us through PM.
Admins, moderators, and staff can be PM’d in the regular manner or the report feature may be used.
